April Theory: Renewal for Health

A trending concept – April Theory – is gaining excitement among the wellness minded. And it is very popular on TikTok.

It is based on anecdotal evidence that the month of April engenders strong feelings of positivity about engaging in new beginnings – coming out of winter torpor.

For Judeo-Christians, April signifies the rebirth or resurrection of Jesus. The holiday Easter is also characterized by the “Easter bunny” and pastel flowers, implying the earth’s awakening from winter, with growth and birth.

April Theory is based on these symbols and “spring fever,” that feeling of rejuvenated energy, the soulful desire to pursue new beginnings. The longer daylight hours and warmer temperatures as well as the appearance of flowers, leaf buds on trees and the sound of birdsong all improve emotional health and increase both physical and mental energy/motivation.

According to an article on Today.com, one TikToker succinctly explained, “Basically, it’s the idea that by April, things start getting good again.” Another said, “The general premise is that March is the time of chapters closing, seasons ending. April is the time for springing anew.”

Part of this innate feeling of renewal, April Theory is also about improving wellness and health. The article quotes Avigail Lev, a psychologist, who noted that the extended amount of sunlight hours tends to stimulate production of the feel-good neurochemicals dopamine and serotonin, and sunlight stimulates production of vitamin D.

In addition, did you know that sunlight also encourages production of melatonin? The longer hours of sunlight help regulate the circadian rhythm, which controls melatonin release signaling. When light hits the retina, that reaches the pineal gland, producing the release of melatonin.

However, high-stress lifestyles can impede this process – as well as impact immune function, giving rise to the idea of focusing on wellness that synergizes with the April Theory.

Certain supplements – vitamin C, ashwagandha and melatonin – are perfect for the April Theory of healthy rejuvenation.

Vitamin C: A newly published comprehensive review of vitamin C’s role in immune function makes a compelling case for taking it daily, as it is a powerful antioxidant as well as an enzymatic cofactor for numerous bodily processes including immune function. The challenge is that the body cannot synthesize vitamin C so it needs to be consumed via diet or supplements. The authors noted that currently, because of its antioxidant activity, vitamin C is being studied for its impact in conditions caused by oxidative stress.

With this in mind, vitamin C is a perfect supplement to help boost wellness for people who engage in April Theory wellness boosting. And Nutriventia’s C-Fence®, provides this immune-boosting vitamin for a full 24-hours in only one 500 mg dose, as shown in a pharmacokinetic study.

Ashwagandha: The traditional Ayurvedic herb Withania somnifera has found tremendous resurgence among the natural health consumer base for its usefulness as an adaptogen. And for good reason, as a review of studies shows it can create and sustain an immune resilience and promote balance in physiology and mental/mood health.

As one of nature’s most powerful adaptogens – a metabolic regular that increases the body’s resilience and adaptability to damaging environmental and lifestyle conditions – ashwagandha has impact on mental well-being. One study using a sustained-release Ashwagandha root extract (300 mg, Prolanza®) daily for 90 consecutive days found significant improvements in memory and attention, sleep quality, and overall psychological well-being. Additionally, participants reported a reduction in stress levels.

Prolanza®, Nutriventia’s ashwagandha root-only extract promotes optimal wellness and stress resilience at a once-daily dose of only 300 mg.

Melatonin: Although the longer days are said to encourage healthier functioning and balancing of the circadian rhythm and melatonin production, today, most people have some incidence of poor sleep. Many people are living with chronic stress, which impacts both sleep and mood.

There are numerous studies showing that melatonin can help people fall asleep, and it is also well known that good sleep promotes better mood. Stress activates the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, which creates tension and irritable mood, exacerbated by poor sleep.

Melotime® is Nutriventia’s unique melatonin that provides a full night’s sleep through its engineered release system. A new human clinical study has shown that 5 mg Melotime provided prolonged melatonin release and extended half-life compared to the immediate-release formulation, resulting in a longer night’s sleep.

April Theory is all about embracing a positive lifestyle that emphasizes wellness, and supplements like C-Fence®, Prolanza® and Melotime® support it perfectly.
